After arriving in Silba at 5:30 we quickly dropped our bags and ran to the beach. The water there is amazing. It's aqua blue and if you open your eyes underwater it's possible to see at least 100 yards. The snorkeling was even better as entire schools of fish would surround you and allow you to come within 2 feet of them. We got home around 7 and had a long awaited home cooked meal of barbecued wings and chicken. I was in heaven. Putting on my first pair of fresh clothes (thanks to Mrs. Roskar), we went out to the local bar, Cafe Del Mar we met all of Grace's friends who were vacationing in Silba and almost all lived in Zagreb. They were all very happy to meet Americans and a surprising amount were going over to the US to study abroad. We went to bed around 3 and slept in until one the next day. We went straight to the beach were we snorkeled, read, and lounged until 6. Fish soup was for dinner, but the fish hadn't been filleted or anything, eyeballs, tail and bones were still there. But the fish had just been caught that morning and the fish literally fell off the bone. At 9 o'clock we went to the dock where we met more locals (or relearned their names) and after the party grew too big for the dock, everyone moved to Cafe Del Mar again. The next day we spent trying to plan the rest of our trip (which later turned out to be a huge waste of time) and hanging out at the beach. Our fourth and final day we woke up early at 10 o'clock, packed a sack lunch, and hiked for about an hour and a half to the tip of the island to some amazing cliffs. We were the only people there all day and it was a great relief from the super crowded beaches. At 5:30 we hiked back home (this time it only took 30 minutes) to another delicious home cooked meal and then went down to the beach to meet up with all of our Croatian friends again.
The next morning we woke up at the god awful hour of 4:45, packed our bags, and ran to the dock and barely made the ferry back to Silba. Walking to the bus station we saw Andro, a kid from the island, who helped us get to the bus station and without his help theres no way we would have made it in time. After the 4 hour bus ride we arrived in Zagreb, where we had 6 hours until our train to Budapest. After a good lounge in the park and a walk around the market, we stocked up on food and boarded the train to Budapest.
