Nice, France

Entry 9.

We woke up the next morning and got on a train from Cinque Terre to La Spezia at 9:40 where we caught another train to Nice. During the train ride the train would briefly pop out from the tunnels, revealing breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Getting off the train we were immediately mobbed by swarms of people going to and from the beach.
We hurried to the hostel, dropped out bags and went straight to the beach. Like most beaches in Europe, the beach was made of rocks, not sand so that was a little disappointing but that didn't seem to annoy anyone else; there were throngs of people as far as the eye could see. If fact, from Cinque Terre to Nice the entire coast was developed. If you could put a hotel somewhere it was there. And there were more than enough people to fill them up.
After hanging out on the beach for a while, we went back to the hostel to take a shower and figure out what to do that night. At 8 o'clock I decided to take a nap before going out, but I didn't wake up until 12 hours later. The next morning we took our daypacks and hiked up some old castle that used to fortify Nice and then was turned into a park. At the top there was a really cool man-made waterfall and at the top of the waterfall you could see the entire city and coastline. We hung out there for an hour, just hanging out and admiring the amazing view. Then we went to the beach and hung out there until we had to go back to the hostel, grab our packs and go to the train station.
