Prague, Czech Republic

Entry 6.

The next morning we woke up early for our 9:30 train to Prague and said good riddance to Thumbs Up Hostel. Arriving in Prague at 5:30 we went to Sir Toby's Hostel and found the place much more accommodating. The beds were comfortable and there was a free barbecue that night. We went to a beer garden close by with an incredible view of the city and had a beer. When your backpacking you never turn down a good home cooked meal so naturally the entire hostel was at the barbecue. Afterwards we went downstairs to the bar (this hostel even had a bar!) where we met people from England to Australia. With some of our newfound friends we went to a club called Cross Club, which according to the guidebook, was one of coolest clubs in Europe. We went downstairs and listened to some weird mix of gothic rock and techno music and watched a bunch of people sway back and forth in no apparent rhythm. After wandering around to a few more rooms and discovering that most of the upper level rooms were closed, we just went back outside to the patio and had some incredibly cheap $2 Pivo.
The next morning we went sight seeing in the old part of town and the entire place was completely packed with tourists, it was hard to move around. The walk across Charles Bridge took 20 extra minutes simply because there were so many tourists. After Charles Bridge we walked up to Prague Castle, where people have been living since around 2000 BC and is the seat of the Czech Government.
Back at the hostel we saw two people we had met last night and went to a local pizzeria with them for dinner. Afterwards we went back to the hostel pub to have a beer and figure out what the plan for latter that night was. After 30 minutes Guy went upstairs because he didn't feel well and 20 minutes after that Jose went to go check on him and call his family. I met a guy from England that had sold his car, his house, and all his other possessions and was traveling around; Europe, North Africa, Russia, The Himalayas, China, Cambodia, Lao, Vietnam and then finally Australia to open a bar with his friend. After talking to him for a good 30 minutes I went upstairs to see what was going on and both Jose and Guy were laying in their beds, under all the covers even though it was a good 20 C inside. I started harassing them to get out of bed because everyone was about to go out for the night. But 10 minutes later I was in my bed under the covers, shivering violently. We all had food poisoning.
